Have you ever examined your life and felt that it was out of balance? May be you have many projects that you follow at the same time?
It happens to me more that I would like to admit. In fact, that is what has inspired me to write this blog post.
In the following, I will present five tips that have helped me in my attempt to get a fair degree of balance back in life.

1 – Set Priorities

Determine what is important to you in life and prioritize. Act according to your priorities, and delegate whenever possible.

Plan to finish what you start and limit the number of projects that you tackle at the same time. Since people have different capabilities, find your own threshold and keep it in mind when you plan.

Maybe 2 or 3 big projects weekly is a good start. It does not have to be the same weekly projects throughout the month or the year. You can alternate your focus on various projects on a weekly basis.

2 – Take Care of Yourself

Plan some time alone with yourself. Meditate on a daily basis: Schedule about 10 minutes daily to meditate. It can make a huge difference to sit daily quietly for even just 2 minutes.

Eat a healthy diet with lot of vegetables, drink enough water – 1,5 to 2 liters per day – and get enough sleep. Exercise at least 3 times a week.

Feed your mind with inspirational readings and videos but avoid distractions when you work on a project.

Take care of your emotional health as well. Acknowledge your feelings and express them accurately. Use forgiveness to make peace with the past.

3 – Be an Achiever Not an Overachiever

Set measurable and realistic goals in different areas of your life. Work towards them with confidence and patience and avoid overdoing.

Brian Tracy, professional speaker and success expert, advises to re-write on a daily basis, the goals that you want to achieve in the present tense as if you have already achieved them.

It is awesome. To write goals daily is a powerful reminder and it gives the creative mind the opportunity to come up with ideas that will make your goals become achievements. Celebrate each achievement, small and big. I know how often we forget the small achievements.

If you work a lot, plan downtime to focus on others areas of life. For example keep the weekend work-free to fully enjoy family activities.

4- Take Care of Your Relationships

It is not necessary to exclusively separate work from the rest of your life. In fact, if you are passionate about your work and about what you do, you will probably talk about it all the time and with everybody. It has become part of who you are.

For balance, just consciously limit the amount of work-related talk in your intimate and personal relationships, unless you seek particular advices or comments.

Listen a lot more than you talk. This way you can have quality conversations with the people you care about without talking always about you.

Take care of your love ones, especially when you feel a lot of pressure from your projects, because your love ones may feel it even more. Plan a date with your significant other in advance and enjoy each other often.

One thing to remember in our relationships is that the key to have good friends is to be a good friend.

5- Practice Gratitude

Do you keep a gratitude journal? If you don’t already, may be it is time that you start. Write on a daily basis at least 3 things you are grateful for.

Include every single details you can think of. Scan each day for the positive experiences in all areas of your life and write it down. When you write it down in detail, you re-live the experience once again.

Show your gratitude to the people around you and to God. Say thank you to the people who helped you and to the people who have contributed in one way or another to make your life be what it is today: your parents, your siblings, your relatives, your friends, your co-workers, your community, etc…

Acknowledge your achievements in various areas of life and be grateful for them. You can also practice being grateful in advance for all that you want to attract in your life.
